The #1 Worst Carb Ever (Don’t Eat This)

By Coach Josh Under General Health Tips, Nutrition Tips

Interesting video wasn’t it?

Let’s face it… excess sugar is a tasty, disease-causing, toxic “treat”.

The American Heart Association recently came out with a “warning” to Americans, published in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association. Lead author Rachel K. Johnson, Ph.D.,M.P.H., R.D., professor of nutrition at the University of Vermont in Burlington, concluded that:

High intake of added sugars is implicated in numerous poor health conditions, including obesity, high blood pressure, and other risk factors for heart disease and stroke.

1. Added sugars and solid fats in food, as well as alcoholic beverages, are categorized as “discretionary calories” and should be eaten sparingly.

2. Most American women should consume no more than 100 calories (25 grams) of added sugars per day; most men, no more than 150 calories (37.5 grams).

3. Soft drinks and other sugar-sweetened beverages are the number-one source of added sugars in the American diet.

How much sugar is okay? With new research, like the study I just mentioned by the AHA as my reference point, and to make it simple, I recommend that men, women, and children who are interested in losing belly fat get no more than 30 grams of sugar a day (this includes natural sources from milk, fruits, and vegetables, too).

This isn’t a lot of sugar when you consider that the average soft drink contains a whopping 40 grams of the stuff. That’s more than the amount of sugar that one should have in an entire day right there.

Cut down on the sugar and replace those empty calories with nutrient-dense vegetables and organic meats for a flat belly.

Best of health!

P.S. Speaking of losing fat, research shows that eating a very specific type of fat can actually help you burn MORE body fat every day:

==> A Fat That FIGHTS Fat

In fact, one study showed that by simply eating this one odd fat a group of 180 overweight men and women lost 9% of their total body fat WITHOUT any other dietary or exercise changes.

Thanks Josh. I have been looking at labels and seen fat has been replaced by sugars and salts. Some of my favourite organic frozen lunches (which I used to eat at work) had up to 900 grams of salt and sugars. My brother who has a brain tumour has been told NO SUGAR. I try to keep both products at low levels. These days it gets harder and harder.
My two rules: Anything in a package of any kind…check the label. Second. Pop has not been consumed by me since I was 25. I am lucky. My gene package and my concerns re food have kept me slim. As I have said before, I can always use more exercise. Time for my dog walk!

I ordered the Belly Fat Free book about 4 week ago.
The biggest change for me was droppong sweetnered drinks from my diet and eating a better breakfast. I am also doing the 5 meals per day method. I have now gone from 174 to 163. It is mostly coming off of my thighs and tummy.

I saw your video about CLA, and I was wondering, what if your fat cells are already fat or bloated, I could see how could it help prevent them from becoming more bloated, but how would it “shrink” them?

Thanks for posting this, Josh. I have lost 18 lbs since beginning my Belly Fat Free program (I refuse to call it a diet). My father has diabetes and has virtually stopped all artificial sweetners and his blood sugar levels reflect a significant stability. I am working on the sugar intake with him, which is more difficult. This segment of 60 Minutes will no doubt help. I have become the consumate label reader and tell anyone that will listen to do the same. Thanks again!

The real culprit is high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Most people eat very little refined sugar. HFCS use and american health problems go hand in hand. Yes there were over weight people prior to the use of HFCS, but not as it is today. Consider the obvious – the more we ‘engineer’ our food, the worse it is for us.
